Finally our journey gets the South America tough! You ask why I write that…? Just read on…
It all happened on a beautiful, sunny Monday…
Fortunately we talked to our host the night before, so we knew that the train would not leave at 8 a.m., as scheduled, but already at 7 a.m. because of a strike in a nearby city. Luck, so far!
So we got up at 5:45 a.m. (! a time I NEVER get up!), had a shower and called a cab, to take us to the train station. We got there on time, bought our tickets, dropped off our backpacks and got into the train.
We waited. We waited some more… and more…
The clock turned 7… 5 past 7… and 10 past 7…
Now the speaker turned on and we hared the following announcement:
“Due to the strike the train will not leave today! You can get your tickets refunded or can use them tomorrow on the same train!”
There it was – finally – an unexpected turn!
So we got off the train, went into the station and tried to get the ticket reissued for tomorrow! Well, brave Henning, I can say:
It was almost impossible to get a new ticket or to get a refund. But of course Henning got it!
So here are the pictures of the train and our “almost journey”:
Don’t laugh at the picture of me – yes, I have a sunburn!
So, tomorrow we will get up early again and try just the same…
Wish us luck, please!
All we could do, was taking a cab back to the hostel and when the door was opened we just said: “Hi, we are back for another night!”

Hallo Herr Rhenius!
